It’s the end of the 3rd week since I’m a student at Imperial College London. I don’t know how, but this Friday evening caught me reading a book (Mathematical Methods for Science Students) a thing only a geek could do on a time like this. The last time I went to the Union ’s bar I didn’t quite enjoy it, so tonight I decided to stay comfortable in my bed in my pink pjs and fluffy sleepers.. I suddenly don’t remember what I wanted to write in here. Which brings me back to what people asked me in the last days : Why don’t you write something about London?
I would, if i only knew how to say it in fewer words!
The only valid statement i could formulate is : “I’m loving it! “, but to prove that it could take me a while. I hope that the pictures I will publish in the next couple of days (cause tomorrow I have a trip to Portobello Road planned, hoorey! ) will suffice.
First things first..
I felt like home from the first minute I put a step in London. Later on I discovered that not only the architecture of the city is impressive ( though I only saw South Kensington cause here is where I live +a bit of North part of Hyde Park), but more importantly people are really polite and helpful. I don’t know what happens if you get to know them better, but until now no one made me change my mind.
I remember my worst fear was that I wouldn’t be able to be myself because of the foreign language. One thing I noticed : people don’t change together with their spoken language. (in fact, they don’t change at all, but that’s just another topic to be discussed further, in a different post)
Moreover, even during the flight I realized that babies cry the same in every language.. and people laugh the same in times of joy. So the first couple of days (freshers’ week! ) were great, with all the many events we had ( and some of them which i missed due to various factors.. 
) and which were meant for us to get to know each other.. The mission was a sheer succces, nevertheless, the confusion part came when on the aftermath we tried to remember our new friends’ name.
The uni is great (only 8 min away from my room and no one can blame me for being late now, ha!). Not even after 3 weeks I still haven’t managed to get to know everyone from JMC (we’re only 30!). But this is only because we share half of our lectures with the Maths students and half of them with the Computing ones. So during lectures the amphiteatre is full with 200 students..
“The Power of JMC “, as we call it, is (no, not to have our own Junior Common Room in the Clore Theatre after the lecture finishes, though today it was pretty entertaining) to take advantage of everything. And better than that : it’s a Double-Everything! We do have two departments to belong to, three personal tutors, two common rooms to sleep in, two libraries to use , two email accounts, and double bloody exams to pass too… I’ve got an email today from a 4th year JMC student at the end of which he wished me an ironic “good luck with my course” … whatever that means
Rrright, stick to the point, Andreea!
I know I firstly created this blog with the intention to bring news about me to people from home.. But now, that I am actually in the position to decide what to write I don’t know which thing is less meaningless.. Maybe you can suggest me some topics. (if you got it so far, it means that you were interested enough to hear what i have to say 
)
Last but not least, I’ve got an A* in my programming homework and I’m still struggling with my Haskell code for next week. Oh, yes, one thing:The professor is amazing, we’ve got even a facebook group to support him! (another thing is that i started to spend more time on facebook like it’s becoming an addiction. Stop me! )
