…London’s so nice back in your seemless rhymes.
Wednesday. 7pm. Going back home after the Microsoft presentation on embedded development & MS Robotics that we organised in the Software& Web Design Society. Chinese lunch-dinner in the creepy restaurant with TimTom (thanks!). Tired. Sleepy.
But Kate tells me that she might have won 2 tickets to the Killers and Coldplay concert. “From tomorrow?” “No, tonight”, she says. Hooorey, off to Shephard’s Bush then! (go on with your joke,Andy
)
Anxious about whether it is real or not we are trying to handle our nerves and get there in time for the gig. We got in! Oh my God!
Absolutely incredible we might say. The Killers rock the stage with their Mr. Brightside and When you were young, but also with a brand new song.
The ” K ” made out of lights was definetely for Kate cause I owe her one of the best nights of my life!
Coldplay was more than I had expected. I don’t know whether Chris Martin’s performance was better now that he had more than the regular 4 units of alcohol ( 400 maybe i may say, haha ), but he jumped and crawled and leant on his back, doing crazy acrobatic things at his piano more than Cirque du Soleil.
NME about the concert:
“However while both groups played curtailed sets in order to beat the curfew, they compensated by recruiting their specials guests for a joint encore together at the end of the show.
Firstly Coldplay played ‘Back For Good’ with Take That’s Gary Barlow, with Chris Martin declaring the collaboration would cheer him up after not winning at the BRITs earlier.
“I think everyone agrees that the band to see at the moment is Take That,” he declared. “We’ve just got back from Japan, lost all the BRITs, it’s been a shit day frankly, but it’s going to get better, please welcome Mr Gary Barlow!”
Then, having only rehearsed minutes beforehand backstage, The Killers and Bono joined Coldplay onstage to perform ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ together.
Although the U2 man was a bit shaky on the lyrics to The Killers song, the three frontmen led the crowd through a rousing sing-a-long as they repeated the tracks “I’ve got soul/ but I’m not a soldier” refrain.
“This is going to be the best encore you’ll ever see!” declared Martin as the three acts wrapped up the night. ”
