After having my nerves tested for a whole week, I decided to let my 6 year old 40 GB hard disk die in peace. In “his” final moments, he was so stubborn to show me that he had 803450 MB (yeah, 800GB!) available, but only 10MB free. Free for what? For Delusions ? In the meantime, a simple fixboot let me know that a bootsector had one or more unrecoverable errors and then it realized that I’m smart enough the figure it out so it didn’t bother to give any more explanations about the origin of the errors. So to keep things simple in his loving memory, I used the cryogenic method and I left the hard disk in the refrigerator for a couple of hours and then I tried to test it again. No worth in doing that either.
Thus, I wish my new hdd to live long and store as many files as “he” can.
Meanwhile, the Deezer player brought a little glim of light in my black-without-music-files-stored-on-pc world.
In my humble opinion, its interface is professional, friendly and very easy to use. Even more than that, what makes it a favorite way of listening music on a pc is its options: you can easily find the songs that you like or find new artists, you can create playlists with them or listen to different radio stations, and even add you own mp3s. These facilities are available ony if you have an account (but the registration is free).
I let you enjoy Deezer and this new band/artist I just discovered (Plumb).

Hi Andreea,
Around christmas I had roughly the same story going on with my 1TB external RAID HDD… But this time it really were 600GB of data not being available anymore (not porn or pirated stuff, no, my own footage and animation projects!)
Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this article and I agree about deezer. Everytime I am in the mood for a certain song but I don’t own it, I’ll look it up on deezer. 80% probability that they already have it.
greetings from germany!
